Dear Parents and Guardians,
Bula and welcome to your Parents, Teachers & Friends Association (PTFA). When you enter the school one of the first things you’ll notice are the happy, welcoming smiles of our students, teachers and parents.
PTFA is governed under the school and has the vision of promoting a spirit of friendship, co-operation and a welcoming atmosphere where quality relationships are strengthened and maintained within our community. At ISS, we have students and families from over 40 different nationalities and embrace including everyone to make the school a better place.
All ISS parents and teachers are automatically given PTFA membership and hence your help, advice, and input is very valuable, especially as you could offer us your experiences gained from your previous school.
The PTFA Committee is made up of a mixture of Parents and School representatives, at current, we have 10 elected members on the committee. The committee meets monthly and updates of information will be shared through the ISS website, email communications, Facebook and open house meetings.
You’re invited to all our events: We start the year with a Quiz and Curry Night and a ‘welcome the new parents’ morning tea. Other events occur throughout the year, which includes our annual family Fun day, the end of year Garage Sale and other events planned for 2018.
Unsure if PTFA is right for you? Here are some reasons to participate in PTFA:
Get Connected - It is a great way to know what’s happening in your school.
Tapinto a Network- PTFA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences.
Watch Yourself Grow - By volunteering with your PTFA, you put your skills and hobbies to use for a noble cause
Speak Up - PTFA can be a way for you to effectively suggest positive change within the school.
Witness Improvement -By getting involved at school you’ll be part of the solution, helping improve the educational environment for all children. PTFA plays an important role in fundraising to provide social events community and improve school facilities for our children. We also donate 10% of our funds to charity projects where the school is involved.
Be a Role Model- By becoming a PTFA member, you’ll be demonstrating to your child the importance you place on education.
Whether small or big, your assistance is always appreciated. The PTFA needs volunteers to assist throughout the year with its many activities and projects. Do not worry if you are not a native English speaker. There are around 40 nationalities in ISS. There are many of us who struggle to say things correctly but still feel at ease among PTFA members. Please also do note that the ISS website can be translated into many different languages, please select the options on the top left hand side of the relevant pages.
