Bula and welcome to our International School Suva’s (ISS) Parent Community! Here, we unite as a family on an enriching journey, much like the traditional ‘drua’ (canoe) navigating the vast Pacific Ocean. Our community thrives through collaboration and respect ensuring that every child’s educational voyage is supported by a strong, united crew.

Our Parent Elected Board

Guiding our ‘drua’ is the Parent Elected Board of Trustees, a group of dedicated guardians who steer our school’s direction with wisdom and foresight. This esteemed board, chosen by you, our valued parents, works tirelessly to uphold our school’s mission and values.

The School Board meets monthly and is supported by the work done by the board sub-committees (facilities, finance, governance, & marketing). The remit of the School Board is given in the Articles of Association which are intended to facilitate the smooth and harmonious running of the Board and all related Sub-Committees of ISS. The Articles aim to promote inclusive and equitable input from all members of the school community and to support the continuous improvement of the school and the outcomes of all its students, while the roles of the subcommittees are defined in the Terms of Reference. The ISS Board and Committee Code of Conduct is available here.

Their leadership ensures that we stay on course, fostering an environment where every student can flourish. With a commitment to transparency and inclusivity, they navigate the seas of educational excellence, making decisions that benefit our entire school community. The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)

Alongside the board, our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) plays a pivotal role in the life of our school. Much like the close-knit Fijian villages, the PTA strengthens the bonds between home and school. The PTA organises a plethora of events to support the integration of students and families (Meet ‘n’ Greet events, Stay ‘n’ Play afternoons, etc.), support school programs via the PTA Bula Project (a campus beautification initiative) & the PTA Impact Fund (providing financial assistance to student-led service projects), distribute the PTA newsletter – The Bridge regularly, and create opportunities for parents to get involved. Through their efforts, we celebrate our diverse culture, share in our children’s achievements, and weave a tapestry of unforgettable memories. If you would like to get involved please reach out to: pta@iss.school.fj

Join the journey by embracing the spirit of ‘solesolevaki’ – working together for the common good where you can contribute your unique talents and perspectives. Whether through volunteering, attending meetings, or participating in events, your involvement enriches our community and enhances the educational experience for all our children. Your presence and participation are the winds that propel our ‘drua’ toward a bright and promising horizon. ‘Vinaka vakalevu’ or thank you very much for being an essential part of our school family.
