October and November marked a significant period for our school community as we joined the global movement to raise awareness and funds for breast and prostate cancer. Our Year 11 students, in collaboration with a dedicated committee of staff members, took the initiative to organize a series of events under the banner of Pinktober and Movember.
Pinktober: A Community Effort & Feast
The highlight of Pinktober was undoubtedly the Biggest Morning Tea, a heartwarming event that brought together our entire school community. Students, parents, and teachers generously donated delicious baked goods and other items to be sold, with all proceeds going towards supporting breast cancer research and patient care. Held on Friday, 25th of October, the event was a resounding success, raising a total of $1,095.
The event was not just about fundraising; it was also an opportunity to foster a sense of community and compassion. Students worked tirelessly to organize the event, from setting up the venue to serving refreshments. Their dedication and enthusiasm were truly inspiring.
Movember: A Mustache-tastic Cause
To raise awareness for prostate cancer, our students together with our Marketing Manager launched the Movember campaign. This involved encouraging male staff and students to grow mustaches throughout the month of November. The quirky competition not only generated laughter and camaraderie but also sparked important conversations about men’s health.
A Heartfelt Thank You
On behalf of the Year 11 Year Coordinators and the dedicated students, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the entire ISS community for their overwhelming support. Your generous donations and enthusiastic participation have made a significant impact on our fundraising efforts.
We hope that by raising awareness and funds for these important causes, we can contribute to a healthier and happier future for all.
