November 28, 2024Dive into Our Ocean Extension Programme
Our Ocean Extension Programme provides a unique opportunity for students to deepen their connection to the ocean through hands-on activities and advocacy. In secondary school, the programme runs every Wednesday from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM, while primary students participate every Friday from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM. During these sessions, students can sign up for activities that align with their interests and aspirations related to the ocean.
The activities are thoughtfully designed around the NMEA Ocean Literacy Framework, which consists of seven ocean literacy principles. This framework is integrated into our curriculum, guiding our approach to ocean education. However, the Ocean Extension Programme goes beyond the classroom, opening doors to ocean advocacy and competency. Students explore innovative solutions to ocean-related problems, becoming voices for ocean conservation through our advocacy activities.
Participants have the chance to develop practical ocean-based skills, such as traditional sailing and kayaking, fostering a deep respect and understanding of marine environments. The programme challenges students to push their limits, build their skills, and take on leadership roles in ocean advocacy.
This valuable programme not only enhances students’ ocean literacy but also empowers them to become active stewards of the marine world. We are excited to see our students grow and thrive as they engage with the Ocean Extension Programme, making meaningful contributions to the protection and preservation of our oceans.
