May 5, 2025Coke Games 2025 Recap: A Golden Finish for ISS
It was a wonderful performance for Team ISS as they took on the 2025 Coca-Cola Games — Fiji’s biggest secondary school athletics competition. Over three action-packed days, our athletes gave it their all at the stadium, backed by a loud and proud crew of supporters in the grandstands.
The competition didn’t start in our favour. Days 1 and 2 were filled with challenges — Anna was unfortunately bundled out of the 1500m, Francis lost a spike in his 100m qualifier, and Elaijie ran well in his heat but missed out on qualifying due to this year’s tough rule: only the heat winners advanced. Our 4x100m relay team put up a solid fight, but a few powerhouse schools proved too strong.
Despite these early hurdles, there were plenty of moments to be proud of. Amelia and Samantafa bravely competed in events above their year level and held their own. Ilaisa clocked a personal best in the 400m — a fantastic achievement, especially in the heat event that was exceptionally fast.
Then came Saturday, and what a turnaround it was.
The final day turned golden for ISS, with two outstanding wins which lit up the stadium. Musuka soared to victory in the Junior Boys High Jump, once again proving himself as a dependable force in the field events. But perhaps the most emotional moment came from Frances, who surged to gold in the Intermediate Girls 200m. It was a win that captured the spirit of perseverance, grit, and pride.
To all our athletes — congratulations on your effort, resilience, and sportsmanship. You represented ISS with strength and heart. Thank you to the supporters, staff, and families who cheered loudly and kept the team spirit high throughout the week.
